Demonstrations

Zarnak glared at Seh-t'sha-ra from across the room. The Priestess despised the woman who sat at the Pharaoh's feet, as if she belonged there. Zarnak knew otherwise, but she chose to keep silent until she could find a moment alone with her Pharaoh. The purple haired Priestess turned her attention back to the demonstration in front of her, her golden eyes watched as Sir-tus and Ardet fought each other with staffs.

The Pharaoh often require demonstrations of his Medjai, he enjoyed the battles they put on. All eyes were on the pair, as Sir-tus and Ardet were the Pharaoh's strongest Medjai warriors. Zarnak studied the two, she could easily see the two trying to outwit the other, but she knew better. Zarnak, Sir-tus, and Ardet had all grown up in the palace together, the boys had been fighting each other for years. They knew each other too well, and were easily able to predict the other's movements.

The audience watched, captivated by the pair. Zarnak, easily caught sight of the move that would allow Sir-tus to win the battle. Sure, enough a few minutes later, Sir-tus knocked Ardet onto back, the staff held against his throat.

Zarnak watched as Ardet gave a nod in defeat. She heard his groan in frustration, as the Pharaoh and audience clapped. Sir-tus offered a hand to help Ardet up from the ground, Zarnak smiled glad to see that there were no hard feelings between her two friends.

Cacti and Teasing

Daphne gently waved her hand over the cactus plants that were in her window sill. The prickly plants bloomed bright yellow, red, and pink flowers, instantly. The tall brunette smiled down at the blooms, before she moved on to the other plants that grew all over her apartment.

"Hathor, be careful," Daphne called out to her familiar as she caught sight of her Russian Blue cat in the sill, near the newly bloomed cacti.

The blue-grey cat meowed in response, as she met Daphne's grey-lilac eyes. Hathor returned her attention back to the prickly plants.

"You know, one of these days, she's going to end up getting stabbed in the nose," Isis, Daphne's roommate and best friend, commented as she walked into the living area of their shared apartment.

Daphne laughed at Isis' comment, "You're not wrong, but hopefully she won't ever actually stick her nose into the cacti.

"Hopefully," Isis said, but her voice was full of doubt as she glanced at Hathor with a raised eyebrow.

"So, do you want anything before you head to class?" Daphne asked as she moved towards the kitchen.

"Daph, I can feed myself," Hathor reminded her friend as she made her way to the cabinet that held her food. She grabbed a few cereal bars, and opened the fridge to pull out a chocolate muffin. "Besides, you have a meeting with Enver later. So, go get ready."

Couch Cuddles (Star Trek)

Ella smiled at Leonard from across medbay, as she went about her hourly rounds. She made quick work with checking in on her patients, there were very few people in medbay. Once she was finished she moved towards the office she shared with her husband.

"You okay, sweetheart?" Leonard McCoy asked his wife, as she laid on the couch in their office.

"Just tired, Leo," she answered as she turned to meet his hazel gaze.

The doctor moved to join his wife on the couch, he lifted her head into his lap as he ran his fingers through her hair. Ella sighed in happiness as her eyes fluttered closed. "Is it terrible to take a nap on shift?"

Leonard chuckled at his wife's question, "Not when you've been on shift for nearly 48 hours, go ahead and get some sleep sweetheart."

Ella gave a soft sigh as she allowed her eyes to close and snuggled further into the couch. Leo reached up and grabbed a blanket that they kept on the couch, he covered his wife. He leaned back and closed his eyes to try and get some sleep too.

Poolside Fun

Avis took a deep breathe before she dunked herself below the surface of the pool water. She easily sank a few feet, she criss-crossed her legs and sat at the bottom of the six foot deep part of the pool. Before she could move, she felt something touch her in the side.

Avis blew bubbles as she released a breathe, before she shot to the surface. Once her head was up from under the water, she gasped as she looked at Nate, who wasn't far from her. "What was that for?" she asked as she brushed some of her dark red hair away from her face.

Nate Evermoon laughed as he met Avis' gaze, "Just making sure you hadn't drowned," he answered as he moved closer.

The mahogany haired witch rolled her eyes, "Athena, is he always this annoying?" she asked her best friend, who sat on the side of the pool with her legs dangling into the cold water.

Athena St. Rose looked at her brother with a frown, "Of course he is," she answered Avis as she turned to share a soft smile with her best friend.

The sixteen almost seventeen year old females both rolled their eyes, but Avis continued to enjoy the water. She pointed a finger at Nate, "Try it again, and you'll be a wet dog," she warned the newly graduated eighteen year old werewolf.

Nate rose his hands in surrender, he slowly moved away from Avis. "You're scary when you're angry," he mumbled as he looked at Avis.

She shook her head, and took another deep breathe before she threw herself the bottom of the pool. With a deep mental breathe, Avis concentrated as she silently said the spell she had found in her family's grimoure. The sixteen year old had been wanting to use this spell for months, but the weather was never quite right, but today was perfect. Ironically, on the summer solstice.

A warm feeling swept over Avis after she finished the spell, she opened her eyes and looked around under the water. It was clear, as there wasn't water in her eyes, she turned her head to see her hair following behind her. She quickly made her way back to the surface, as she reached the open air, she gasped before she looked at Athena with wide eyes.

"Did it work?" the brunette female asked her friend in anticipation.

Avis nodded as she moved towards Athena and pulled her into the pool. Athena shrieked as she landed in the water, she splashed Avis. The redhead splashed her back, the two kept splashing, eventually getting the others. Archer, Nate, and Enver tried to separate the duo but they ended soaking, Nate especially once he started tickling Avis.

Apologies (TAG)

Ella smiled as she strung the various rolls of crepe paper up along the living room wall. She caught Scott's eye as he filled the balloons with helium, and sent him a warm smile.

A loud noise broke the pair's attention, Ella looked up to see that Gordon had dropped a box of party favors.

"Haha oops," Gordon said as he glanced between Ella and Scott.

Ella shook her head, "You okay, Gordon?" she asked as she moved a little bit more to the right to string along the streamer.

"Yeah," the blonde Tracy brother answered as he picked the box back up. "I can't believe John was able to get Virgil out of the house."

"Well, at least he won't try to snoop, unlike some Tracy brothers," Ella commented as she looked at Scott with a frown.

Scott met Ella's golden gaze with a sigh. "What? It was one time, Ella," he whined as he threw a balloon at her.

"Yeah, well you managed to ruin two birthdays," the Rosewood female muttered as she taped part of the streamer up.

Scott paused in his task, he moved towards Ella. While, they had grown up together, neither of them considered the other a sibling. He wrapped his arms around Ella's waist, he gently lifted her off of the stool she stood on. "I am sorry, Ella, I won't ruin anymore birthdays for you and I ever again. I promise, " he swore as he looked into her doe like eyes.

Summer

Warm rays shined on her dark mahogany hair, as she lifted her face to enjoy the heat. Fresh mowed grass tickled her nose, as she moved past the residential streets. A smile brightened her face as she spotted the familiar tall man who was leaning against a tree trunk, waiting for her.

Birthday Gift

"Alright, close your eyes, Artemis," Christian ordered as he stood in front of me.

"Why?" I asked as I looked at my brother with a raised eyebrow.

"You'll see soon enough," he replied with a smirk on his face.

"Fine," I hugged as I dramatically closed my eyes and placed my hand in front of eyes, just to appease my oldest brother.

I listened as his footsteps faded away, from the living room where most of the guests were settled. I could hear them asking about what was going on as they watched me. I felt the stares and glances of curiosity from the my friends and family. When the familiar steps of my brothers gait began to return I attempted to peek through my fingers.

"No peeking, Artemis," Christian called out.

I rolled my eyes as I close my fingers. "Boo," I mumbled aloud.

The laughter and chuckles from the guests filled the room. I rolled my eyes again, from the sound. I was not a joke and I didn't appreciate people laughing at me.

Christian's footsteps had now entered the room. I waited until I felt the familiar presence in front of me. "Okay, open your eyes," he said his voice was full of excitement.

I moved my hand from my face, I blinked open my eyes to adjust to the light. I gasped at the sight in front of me. There in my brother's arms was the cutest kitten I had ever seen. The little feline stared at me with golden-green eyes.

"Aw," I cooed as I reached a hand out to the kitten. "Is she mine?" I asked as the kitten moved her head out to sniff my fingertips. With a tentative movement, the baby moved forward to lick my fingers. I giggled at the rough sensation from the licking.

"Yeah, she's yours," Christian answered as he handed me the little bundle of black fur.

I gently held the sweet girl in my arms, as she cuddled against my chest. She nuzzled her head into my collarbone, I stroked her just behind the ears with my left hand. Her obsidian fur was soft to the touch. "Does she have a name?" I asked my brother.

"Nope," he answered popping the p sound. "I figured you should be the one to give her a name. she's a from Ayden and Seph, too."

Where have I been?

Hi everyone, I only posted five times last month in May. This is the first update in June. I apologize for my absence. The month of May was a hectic one, it was Mental Health Awareness, and my dad went in for heart surgery in May. He only recently was able to come home, it was determined that he could use more physical therapy before he returned home. I spent the last month as the head of my family, I was making sure we had groceries, gas was in the car, bills were paid, and overall that my dad was doing okay.

I learned a lot in the twenty-five days my dad was out of the house. I won't share specifics but I've learned more about myself and the family dynamics of my family. We're a quirky bunch but we're glad that he's home. I'll be back to regular posting on Friday, but it may only be twice a week instead of three times a week.

We did just recently pass the one year anniversary of our blog. How cool is that? I'll do something celebratory in the next blog.
