Cafe Days

Rhythms and beats
pulse and play
in her ears as she tunes
the world
which moves and changes
around her

Umber eyes
closed and hidden
from the ever watching
looks and glances
that attempt
to penetrate

She stays
strong and ignorant
to the whispers and
awestruck faces,

dark waves bop
and bounce along
with the various music
that plays in her earbuds

fingers dance
and type quickly
the poetry piece
or prose
that will appear

some days the piece
will only
take minutes to complete

other days she'll spend
hours in contemplation
to find the words to share

the ice melts
or the warmth settles
and grows cold
on the longer days
but she perseveres
