PRIDE

The clock tower in the center of town looms high, lights from the base shine up sides of the bricks. A rainbow is painted in lights up and down the walls. Strength is found in those who stop or just glance at the building.

At the base of the tower, a pair sit on the steps in the twilight sky of pale lavender.

"This is it," the younger of the two says softly. "This is the symbol of me and what I've done this year."

A smile that is fond and sad, crosses the older sister's face. "You're more than just a rainbow," she replies. "But you're my favorite one, if you have to be."

Laughter bubbles up and falls from their lips. "Good to know. But are you?" the short haired woman trails off in her question to her sister, who is more petite.

Long dark, slightly purple tinted hair flails. "Not yet, but you are strong for sharing what you did."

A silence falls between the sisters as they watch the sky darken. The rainbow in the sky against the old worn bricks shines brightly in the sky and upon the sisters.

Dedicated to my little sister, who just this year came out to the world as being bisexual. I don't care what she is, to me she will always be my little sister. It doesn't matter who you love, love is love and it doesn't judge.
